The Story of Nardis

Nardis Jazz Club, which first opened on October 29, 2002, completed its 19th year and entered its 20th year on October 29, 2021. Located in Galata, where live jazz music concerts have been held 6 days a week since then, Nardis is Turkey’s only surviving jazz club that has reached 20 years of age.

The music played at Nardis primarily consists of various subgenres of jazz music, which has been globally recognized and respected as art music since the second half of the 20th century. Additionally, over its 20-year history, Nardis has also hosted quality performances of Turkish Classical Music, Turkish Folk Music, World Music, and Acoustic Rock, albeit in limited numbers.

Nardis has a maximum audience capacity of 120. On average, it presents quality live music to approximately 1,800 listeners monthly and 20,000 annually.

While Nardis generally provides a stage for Turkish musicians and groups, it has also hosted internationally renowned jazz musicians, allowing its audience to experience these international names in an intimate atmosphere at very reasonable ticket prices.

For 20 years, Nardis has been the first venue that comes to mind in Istanbul and Turkey when speaking of jazz and quality music genres, maintaining a consistent level of excellence. It is also widely known abroad by both jazz musicians and jazz enthusiasts.

Nardis has been listed for years as one of the world’s leading jazz venues in the prestigious American jazz magazine Down Beat.

Furthermore, world-famous travel magazines and websites recommend Nardis as one of the must-visit places in Istanbul.
