He was born in Istanbul. He started violin education at the age of 10. He completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul University State Conservatory. Continuing his master’s degree, violin and double bass artist Yarkın Tuncer gave many concerts, recitals and participated in masterclasses. He has worked with names such as Cihat Aşkın, Tuncay Yılmaz, Joshua Epstein and Tedi Papavrami. In 2016, he performed Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E Minor with IU DKSO. Influenced by Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, the most important representative of the Scandinavian jazz double bass school, he started playing double bass in 2009. Yarkın Tuncer, who continues to work in this field and performs at important jazz festivals in Turkey, met with Ankara music lovers at SAMM’s bistro stage.
