Volkan Polat

He graduated from Istanbul Pera Fine Arts High School, Classical Guitar Department and then Istanbul Technical University, Turkish Music State Conservatory, Music Theory Department. During his studies at the Conservatory, he studied classical Turkish music as well as maqam improvisation, jazz and classical western music. In the same years, he had the opportunity to study jazz guitar and harmony with Kamil Özler, Neşet Ruacan and Donovan Mixon. In 2012, he won first place in the Nardis Jazz Club Young Jazz Guitarist competition. Over the years, he has shared the same stage with many local and foreign jazz musicians in various jazz clubs, domestic and international festivals. Volkan Polat continues to give concerts with his own band on Istanbul jazz stages and to train students.
