Born in Istanbul, Asena Akan started her musical education with classical violin at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory at the age of 5. She continued her musical education at the part-time Opera Department of the Istanbul State Conservatory and graduated in 1998. Akan, who also plays bass guitar, continues her musical journey with jazz vocals, compositions and stage performances.
His albums include ‘Istanbul’un İzleri’ (2013); ‘Golden Heart’ (2016); ‘Parçalar’ (EP-2017); ‘Suya Yazdım’ (Single-2019) with Z/Kalan label.
Akan, who has a passion for music as well as a sensitivity and interest in human behavior, completed her academic education in this field at Istanbul University, Department of Psychological Counseling, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Departments. For more than 10 years, she has been working with individuals and groups with different characteristics and organizing creative seminars and music workshops in various institutions with a multidisciplinary approach that synthesizes the ‘healing/transformative power of music’ with solution-oriented counseling methods. Akan’s ‘Being a Voice’ workshops are also a part of the association “Önemsiyoruz”, which develops products and services for children to access their fundamental rights.
