Born in Istanbul in 1998, Nisan Biçer began her musical journey at a young age by taking piano lessons and joining choirs. Her interest in jazz led her to participate in the Sibel Köse Jazz Vocal Workshop in 2018 and complete the Bahçeşehir University Jazz Certificate Program in 2020. During her university studies, she spent a semester in New York, joining an ensemble led by Daniel Bennett at the New York Jazz Academy. Upon returning to Turkey, she began working with Randy Esen and studied jazz piano with Adem Gülşen for a while.
In 2022, Nisan participated in the Young Jazz+ Competition with the Istanbul West Side Collective, a band formed with her university friends. As winners, they performed at the 29th Istanbul Jazz Festival’s Jazz in the Parks event and the 6th Akra Jazz Festival. In the summer of 2023, she attended the Siena Jazz Workshop, working with world-renowned musicians such as Theo Bleckman, Michael Mayo, Reinier Baas, Gerald Clayton. She currently continues her studies with Randy Esen and Güç Başar Gülle.
A graduate of Koç University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Media and Visual Arts, Nisan has been working as a design researcher at ATÖLYE for the past two years, while continuing her musical studies and performances.
