In moments when we want to be out of time, there is music we want to close our eyes and listen to. The gaps in our ears, the familiar melodies draw us in… and we start to become a part of the music we listen to… Like a warm and sincere state of communication, perhaps, the equivalent of a conversation with friends.
Cenk Erdoğan studied jazz composition with famous jazz musicians of Turkey during his university years. He also studied Turkish classical music and specialized in fretless guitar. Using a special technique on fretless guitar influenced by the Turkish traditional instruments bağlama and tanbur, Cenk Erdoğan has attracted the attention of experts abroad with his work combining jazz harmonizations with traditional melodies. In 2004, he was invited to “Berklee College of Music” and “Queens College of Music”, which are important schools in the field of music in the USA. He organized workshops on fretless guitar and gave concerts there. Cenk Erdoğan Trio’s first album “İle” was released in 2008, “Kavis” in 2011 and “Kara Kutu” in 2014 by Baykuş Music. Fermata (2018) was released by Lin Records and Lahza II (2019) by Stockholm Jazz Records.
