Tamer Temel

Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone

Born in Istanbul, he studied Economics at Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir. He started to take part in jazz concerts during his university years. In 2005, with the scholarship he won as part of the European Jazz Festival, he studied at the Siena Masterclass Summer Course in Italy and played in concerts. He attended the workshop of Mark Turner, one of the most important saxophone players of our time, and took private lessons. In 2010 (with Dave Allen on guitar, Masa Kamaguchi on bass and Marc Miralta on drums) he released his self-titled debut album Barcelona. In 2013 (with Serkan Özyılmaz on piano, Cem Aksel on drums, Volkan Topakoğlu on bass, Eylül Biçer on guitar, Kenny Wollesen on vibraphone) he released his album Bir Kedi Kara. At the end of 2016, he (with Serkan Özyılmaz on piano, Eylül Biçer on guitar, Matt Hall on bass, Volkan Öktem on drums) released Free Fall. Tamer Temel has performed at many festivals, concert halls and jazz clubs and played with Flapper Swing, an acoustic jazz manouche band. He also teaches jazz at Bahçeşehir University as a lecturer.
